Commissioned by Sadler's Wells for choreographer Christopher Thomas, ***The Three Visions for Solo Violin*** premiered in 2019 and was recorded at The Menuhin Hall. ‘Prologue’ is the opening track from the 18-minute EP.

In harmony with the dance's narrative, we delve into the internal landscape of a female protagonist teetering on the precipice of a life-altering decision. Amidst her struggle she encounters three visions: her absent mother, her youthful self, and the child she will never bear, culminating in a final furore.

With a nod to Bach, Pärt, Mendelssohn and Ligeti, the ever-changing textures unfold like a multi-movement Baroque solo partita, encompassing nine exquisitely poignant and frenetically colourful variations of the opening mournful *Prologue* within its 18-minute duration. Through *Hope*, *Loss* and *Fury*, the variations weave an inherent tension throughout, propelling us towards its climactic *Reckoning*, and ultimately leaving a prevailing sense of resignation in the final framing *Epilogue.*
